Note: there are small scratches in the gilding on the
head edge.
Note: There are small closed holes in the front hinge
near the tail.
There is a similar repair on the
foredge of the rear board.
Note: There are closed tears in the endpaper joints. The
book is tight in the case.
There is ink underline of
one word and parenthesis around the phrase on page 2.
The upper corner of that page is torn in the
margin and attached to the previous page (from poor
foredge cutting skills of the first reader, who
evidently learned from that, as it's the only one).
The remaining pages are bright and clean.
There are dull spots on
both covers and spine, particularly the back cover as
seen in the top photo. The cloth is very dark. Gullans
calls it black but I see it as midnight blue-black, or
"cool black".There is some fading to the spine cloth
and stamping.
